Description
This photo is part of a large photographic collection of over 100 North American Bald Eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) as seen on Veterans Day, 11 November 2015, under Conowingo Dam, located in northeastern Maryland on the Susquehanna River. When the hydroelectric dam releases water, it stuns the fish which makes for easy meals for these majestic birds.

On checking out your images, this one stands out the most to me. In Kansas, we have only 80 to 90 nesting pairs. You have to search them out and then they are hard approach.
Jeff at JSJ Photography replied:
Thank you Gail! I also really enjoy this particular photo--even though it was taken from pretty far away and cropped, it still came out in-focus. Eagles are making a comeback and were taken off the endangered species list --but they are still rare to see and federally protected. I have no idea how eagles survive in Kansas since waterways are more scarce, but we have had 3 active bald eagle nests in Washington, DC for the past 3 years--a first since 1947. Both the Potomac and Susquehanna Rivers have quite a few eagles these days..... ~Jeff at JSJ Photography
