Description
A female wild turkey was grazing in the front yard of an urban residential area of Mount Vernon in Fairfax County, Alexandria, Virginia on 4 June 2017 while I was passing by along Sheerwood Hall Lane just after sunrise. By the time I pulled over and got my camera gear out, the wild turkey flew up onto the roof of a house so I could get a perfect profile shot before flying down the other side away from me. I used to live in the area and I had not seen a wild turkey in this residential area in over 8 years, so I would say they are pretty rare around Alexandria, Virginia. 20170604
